Chasing vs Waiting

Story

It’s 3:07pm on a Friday.

You have finished up your week and are still waiting for payment from a client to come through.

They promised to have it to you on Monday.

Ug.

You don’t want to have to call them again or show up at their front door.

But you also want to pay your people.

What do you do?

That is a question that plagues many of us on varying scales with various organizations with various amounts of zeros attached to the problem.

We know as Christians that the Lord owns the cattle on a thousand hills (Proverbs 50:10). So he is capable.

And it says in 2 Corinthians 9:

“And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.”

So God promises to equip you for every good work.

So how do we treat these verses in ligh of our every day struggles with other humans?

God gives us two great thoughts on our mindset.

  1. Obedience is the pre-cursor to joy (Psalm 34:9, Luke 11:28)

  2. Faith is built in challenges (Philippians 4:6-7, Psalm 55:22)

Do your due diligence and pursue the funds that are owed you. Be kind, ask kindly but directly. Don’t be lazy in communication.

But also…

DON’T focus on our anxiety and real issue (the financial provision) – focus on Jesus. He is the author and perfector of our faith (Hebrews 12:2)

He will give you peace.

And that is what we are truly looking for each and every day. In that obedience things become more clear.

And sometimes…

Another path opens up.

God is good.

We are grateful to serve alongside,
